Site Relaunch & Episode 3

Despite best intentions, passion projects often sit for long periods of time waiting to be worked on. This has certainly been the case with Sick in Africa. Even after partnering with Dr. Huhn who helped significantly to outline and collate several new episodes, as well as suggest edits for the first two episodes, it is a challenge to find the time to edit.

In early September of 2024, my role at Faithful Friends as Director of Operations dropped from full-time to half-time. Could this be a blessing in disguise? I certainly think so. With funds in my documentary account with which to pay myself, at least for several months of part-time work, I’m excited to announce a refreshed website and brand new episode, “A Sudden Illness”.

With a renewed vision and focus on the series, I have also decided to pull my films from Alexander Street where the English subtitled versions were held behind a subscriber service. It was a worthy experiment as filmmakers are often angling for a distributor to pick up their work. However, in the end it turned out to not be a lucrative decision for me in any way and merely prevented the public from learning a thing or two about cross cultural medicine and particularly the healing landscape in Mozambique.
